Disney TV Studios has signed a new overall deal with director/producer Jason Ensler, who will be developing and/or directing new shows for Disney, including Disney+.

One of his new shows will be the TV version of Love, Simon, which will be coming soon to Disney+ and is inspired by the 2018 Fox movie.  He has previously worked on the Fox’s series, The Passage and The Exorcist, in addition to working on other series such as The Newsroom, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Lethal Weapon.

“We love Jason Ensler at this company.  He’s not only an incredibly skilled director who is great with talent, but he possesses such a strong aesthetic, and his creative instincts are always spot on. Quite simply, he’s the full package and we consider ourselves lucky to be in business with him.”

 

 

Said Jonnie Davis, 20th Century Fox TV President of Creative Affairs and Jason Ensler told Deadline:

“I’m so grateful for the opportunities Dana, Craig, Jonnie, Howard, Terence and everyone at 20th have afforded me as a filmmaker in the last few years.  Thrilled to continue my journey with them, creating new and exciting projects.

Disney have been working hard since they acquired 20th Century Fox to sign creative talent to make shows for their array of television channels and streaming services.

Love, Simon will be written by the original writing team behind the movie, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Bergerm, who will also be acting as executive producers, along with Adam Fishbach and Isaac Klausner. Marty Bowen will be producing the series, who also worked on the movie.  It will also star
