Is “Smurfs” Coming To Disney+?
This summer, after multiple live-action films featuring the iconic Smurfs, a brand new animated film is coming to cinemas around the world.
Blue and cute, standing only three apples high, the Smurfs value team spirit, loyalty, optimism, fun and respect for nature. They might be hard to tell apart at first; however, each Smurf has his or her own particularity. They live in a village full of mushroom-shaped houses, hidden in the heart of a magic forest where few people venture to go. Born in a comic book in 1958, Peyo’s little blue characters have been spreading happiness and entertaining kids and families for generations.
In the new movie, when Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe.
“Smurfs” features an all-star voice cast including Rihanna, James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
When Is “Smurfs” Released?
“Smurfs” will be released exclusively in cinemas around the world on July 18th, 2025
When Will “Smurfs” Be On Disney+?
While “Smurfs” is an animated movie for the whole family, unfortunately, for Disney+ subscribers, “Smurfs” has been created and distributed by Paramount, so it will not be available to Disney+ subscribers.
Instead, once it’s finished its theatrical release and has been available for purchase on digital platforms for a few months, it’ll be heading to Paramount+ in the United States and in many other countries around the world.
However, Disney does have a licensing deal in place with Paramount for some films in the United States and internationally. So it’s possible, maybe in a few years’ time, the latest “Smurfs” film could become available on Disney+.
