Disney’s Hulu has ordered a new pilot for a car racing-themed comedy. The show, currently going by the working title “Downforce,” will be produced by ABC Signature.

According to Variety, the official description for the pilot states, “When the heiress to a dynastic racing team is thrust back into the family business, she needs to make some hard choices about the future of the team and her family’s legacy.”

“Downforce” is going to be written and executive produced by Alec Berg and Adam Countee, who have previously worked together on HBO’s hit “Silicon Valley”.   The pair have an overall deal with Disney’s ABC Signature Studios.

Alec Berg has also previously co-created the HBO series, “Barry”, and also worked as a writer on “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”.    While Adam Countee has previously worked on the behind-the-scenes documentary about “Willow” and “The Shrink Next Door”

Also working on the show as executive producers are Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill, in addition to Daniel Ricciardo, Amy Solomon and Lionsgate Television.

As with other originals being created by ABC Signature Studios for Hulu, we should also expect to see this project released as a Star Original on Disney+ around the world, should the project get picked for a full series.
