
Freddie Fox To Star In “Doctor Who” Season 2
Disney and the BBC has announced that Freddie Fox has joined the cast of the upcoming second season of the iconic British sci-fi series, “Doctor Who”.
In the new season, The Doctor meets Belinda Chandra and begins an epic quest to get her back to Earth. But a mysterious force is stopping their return and the time-traveling TARDIS team must face great dangers, bigger enemies and wider terrors than ever before.
Freddie Fox will be playing a fearsome villain from another planet in an upcoming episode. He has previously appeared in many shows including “The Gentlemen”, “The Crown”, “The Great”, “Slow Horses”, and “House of the Dragon”. Freddie also previously worked with the “Doctor Who” showrunner Russell T Davies’ in the Channel 4 dramas “Cucumber” and “Banana”.
Russell T Davies said in a statement regarding the casting:
“It’s been 10 years since I worked with Freddie on Cucumber, and this is a great way to celebrate the anniversary. He’s the most spectacular actor, and he comes to Doctor Who with fury, venom, cunning and a beautiful set of horns. Doctor beware!”
Freddie Fox, added:
“I had the most amazing time making this show and feel honoured to have been asked to be a part of Russell’s crazy, bonkers, beautiful vision. Added to which, sharing space with the iconic Doctor that is Ncuti Gatwa was special beyond imagining. If audiences enjoy watching it half as much as I did making it, televisions are on course to explode right across the world!”
The new season stars Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. The second season also features many other guest cast, including Rose Ayling-Ellis, Christopher Chung, Anita Dobson, Michelle Greenidge, Jonah Hauer-King, Ruth Madeley, Jemma Redgrave and Susan Twist.
“Doctor Who” is produced by Bad Wolf with BBC Studios for the BBC and Disney Branded Television and will air on 12th April 2025 exclusively on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Disney+ outside of the UK (where available). The previous season, along with the 60th Anniversary and Christmas specials on BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Disney+ everywhere else.
