Last year, FOX announced that it had given a series order for a brand new Hawaii lifeguard drama series called “Rescue: HI-Surf.” The series follows the personal and professional lives of the heavy-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu—the most famous and dangerous stretch of coastline in the world. Each episode will feature these dedicated, heroic, and adrenaline-seeking first responders saving lives in the difficult and often life-threatening conditions of Hawaii’s Seven Mile Miracle.

TVLine has reported that FOX has ordered an additional seven episodes for the first season, bringing the total to 19 episodes. This hopefully shows that FOX has faith in the show and has been pleased with what they’ve seen so far.

“Rescue: HI-Surf” will star Arielle Kebbel (9-1-1, Ballers) as Emily “Em” Wright, who is the first female lieutenant in Ocean Safety history, as well as a record-setting paddler and surfer.   The show will also star Robbie Magasiva (Wentworth) as captain Sonny Jennings, who’s mourning the death of his nephew, and Adam Demos (Sex/Life) plays Will Ready, a good-natured Australian surfer who’s ready for anything the ocean throws at him.

Also starring in the series will be Kekoa Kekumano (The White Lotus), Alex Aiono (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) and Zoe Cipres (Roswell, New Mexico).

The upcoming series is going to be created by Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment.   Matt Kester is serving as the showrunner and executive producer on the project. John Wells will executive produce through John Wells Productions and JWP’s Erin Jontow also serves as an executive producer.

“Rescue: HI-Surf” is set to premiere on the FOX channel during the 2024/25 season, and due to a multi-year deal between Disney and FOX, we should expect to see “Rescue: HI-Surf” made available on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States the day after new episodes premiere.
