“Explore Disney+” Launches
Disney has announced details on a new feature they’ve added to Disney+ called “Explore Disney+”, which is a new site that is the official guide to what’s streaming on Disney+.
This site is a dynamic new destination designed to help viewers navigate the vast and ever-expanding universe of Disney storytelling on its streaming services.
Samantha G. Rosenberg, Executive Vice President of Marketing, Disney+, said in a statement regarding the new site:
“Explore Disney+ is built to help everyone — whether you’re already subscribed or discovering what’s available — get the most out of the platform with curated watch guides, exclusive interviews, and highlights across genres, worlds, sports, and live events. We’re excited to launch this new site so you can be among the first to dive in and explore everything Disney+ has to offer.”
Here are some of the features of “Explore Disney+”:
- Watch Guides: Curated lineups tailored to every mood, from laugh-out-loud comedies to pulse-raising action, and everything in-between.
- Coming-Soon Spotlights: Sneak peeks and breakdowns of upcoming releases, complete with key dates and story teases. Just this month, Explore Disney+ published its guide on new programming coming to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN.
- Creator and Talent Interviews: First-person insights from actors, directors, showrunners, and crew behind top titles on Disney+.
- Top Lists & Recommendations: Quick-hit roundups and themed collections that surface hidden gems and timely favorites.
- Official Announcements: Verified updates straight from Disney+, keeping fans informed and ahead of the curve, such as where to find Marvel’s Super Hero Scoops ice cream truck across New York City in honour of New York Comic Con.
Roger’s Take: One of the problems Disney has faced over the last few years is that it has a tendency to maintain numerous websites and social media accounts for its various studios and products, particularly across different countries. Over the years, these often become underutilised or not updated regularly, so it makes sense for Disney to offer a more simplistic way of sharing information with their subscribers, similar to other streaming services.
Ultimately, this could become a useful resource for new subscribers and for general information, but it’s also important to note that, as with anything officially operated by Disney, it will only share officially approved news and will always provide favourable coverage to its own products. So, it’s essentially a glorified advertising platform to promote Disney+.
