At the last D23 Expo in 2019, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy brought actor Ewan McGregor onto the stage to officially announce that he would be returning to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for a brand new limited series for Disney+.

Unfortunately, the series has suffered from multiple delays for a variety of reasons and recently, Ewan McGregor made an appearance on Eddie Izzard’s charity live-stream event and said there has been another small delay in filming.

“We start making it in the late spring and we’re gonna be shooting it here in LA,”

Recently, there was a report that a local village in England was upset at a large set being created to film the Disney+ series “Star Wars: Andor”, which was assumed by many mainstream newspapers to be the Obi-Wan Kenobi show.  Which Ewan cleared up:

“My dad was sending me links, saying, ‘I thought you were shooting it in LA’ because there’s another tabloid expose that we’re shooting it in some bizarre town somewhere. Then we’re meant to be making it in Boston and then we’re meant to be making it, no, it wasn’t Boston, it was Boston, England. But we’re not. We’re shooting it in LA”

During the chat with Eddie Izzard, Ewan spoke about returning for the new Disney+ series,

“It’ll just be great to do it again. It’s so funny, I did my last one in 2003 [2005] and it’s such a long time ago and the idea of doing it again now is just more exciting than it was then, I think.  I’m thrilled to get the chance to play him again. I’ve always felt there was a story between my ones and Alec Guinness’ ones and that’s what we’re gonna do. It should be really interesting.”

This new Disney+ series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where he faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series is directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed memorable episodes of “The Mandalorian,” Season 1, and features the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.
