Disney has announced the details of a brand-new documentary called “EPCOT Becoming: Inside the Transformation”, which will give takes a unique look at how the Park was transformed through the lenses of technology, nature, music and other National Geographic themes.

“EPCOT Becoming” showcases the reimagining of EPCOT for a new generation. Watch as Walt Disney World Resort teams rise to the challenge of bringing the constantly evolving park into the future, from creating an innovative new coaster to exploring the wonder of water and culminating with the debut of the next legacy in nighttime spectaculars: “Luminous The Symphony of Us.”

EPCOT originally opened in 1982 and stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.  For decades, the theme park featured two main areas, Future World and World Showcase, but this documentary will showcase how Future World has been transformed into multiple zones, including  World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature.

The new documentary will air later today at 10 pm ET/PT, on the National Geographic linear channel in the United States.  It will be released on Disney+ and Hulu on July 19th 2024.   No international Disney+ release details have been announced, but hopefully it won’t be too long until we can all watch this documentary.

Disney will also be releasing some additional videos featuring behind-the-scenes stories related to the EPCOT Transformation on National Geographic’s YouTube channel. For five weeks, starting on Friday, June 14th, 2024, you can check out in-depth stories of some of your favourite EPCOT offerings, such as food and beverage, festivals, and others!
