Jeff Bridges Returning For Disney’s “Tron: Ares”
Filming is currently underway in Vancouver, Canada, on the upcoming movie, “Tron: Ares”, which follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.
The next instalment in the “Tron” franchise stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson.
The original film, released in 1982, told the story of Kevin Flynn, a software programmer who is dragged into a virtual world and pitted against a malevolent software. He seeks the help of Tron, a security program that helps him defeat the villain.
Jeff Bridges played the role of Kevin Flynn in the original movie and reprised the role in “Tron: Legacy”, which came out in 2010. And it’s been revealed by the actor on the Film Comment podcast that he will be returning for the upcoming film:
“I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third instalment of the ‘Tron’ story. Jared Leto is the star of this third one. I’m really anxious to work with him; I’ve admired his work.”
Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, and Steven Lisberger are the film’s producers, and Russell Allen serves as executive producer.
“Tron: Ares” is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 10th 2025, with a Disney+ release in early 2026. The previous two “Tron” movies, along with the animated series, are also available to stream on Disney+.
