Nielsen has announced its top 10 streaming charts for the week of 27th December through to 2nd January 2022 for the United States. There are four different charts, Top 10 Originals, Acquired Shows, Movies and a combined total chart.
On Christmas Eve, Disney released “Encanto” onto Disney+, after a 30-day theatrical exclusive window and over the holidays, people watched the film in their droves. Making it the number one movie of the week across all streaming platforms and also the second most-watched piece of content of the week, behind Netflix’s “Cobra Kai”, which clocked up more minutes because an entire season dropped at once.
Disney+ also had two original series in the top ten, with “The Book Of Boba Fett” debuting onto the Top 10 Original chart, plus following the release of the finale of Marvel’s “Hawkeye”, it continued to be a huge success for Disney+ over the holiday break.
“Bluey” also made an impact on the acquired series, showcasing the love for this Australian animated series for the fourth straight week.
Disney’s ABC shows “Criminal Minds”, and “Grey’s Anatomy” continue to pull in viewers on Netflix. These shows are available on Disney+ internationally.
