Disney announced at its APAC Showcase event in Singapore that the second season of the hit Japanese series, “Gannibal,” will be returning in 2025.

The first season tells the story of what happened after causing a major incident; police officer Daigo Agawa takes his wife Yuki and daughter Mashiro to live in the remote mountain village of Kuge. It seems the perfect place for the family to recover from the ordeal, despite the mysterious disappearance of a previous officer posted there. The village thrives on forestry, with the residents making their living from cypress timber. In charge of this whole operation is the Goto family, who own most of the village. One day, the body of an old woman is found on the mountain. The Goto family says she was attacked by a bear, but Daigo notices a human bite mark on the arm. Daigo begins to suspect something is not quite right with the village.

A new teaser trailer for the second season has also been released on Disney’s Japanese social media:

The show is a live-action adaptation of Masaaki Ninomiya‘s horror manga book.  Shinzo Katayama will be returning to direct the second series, and Takamasa Ōe is writing the scripts. Teruhisa Yamamoto will also be the producer for the second season.   “Gannibal” stars Yuuya Yagira, Show Kasamatsu  and Riho Yoshioka.

The second season will be released on Disney+ around the world on 19th March 2025.  The series will also be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States.   The first season is also available to stream now on Disney+ and Hulu.
