Disney+ Makes New Content Deal With Groupe M6

Disney+ continues to expand its international content offerings with the announcement of a new deal with Groupe M6, which will bring four popular shows from the French broadcaster to Disney+ in France.

The four shows include “Scènes de Ménages”, “En Famille”, “Mariés au Premier Regard” and “The Power: Qui a le Pouvoir?”. “Scènes de Ménages” and “En Famille” are dropping onto Disney+ on September 25th 2026, with the other two coming at a later date. Several hundred episodes of these shows will gradually become available on Disney+.

This deal has been done to specifically appeal to 15- to 34-year-olds in France, to meet the evolution of users, and to maximise the exposure of French content. While M6 Group wants to significantly expand their audience and reach new audiences beyond linear screens.

Karl Holmes, General Manager, Disney+ EMEA, said in a statement regarding the deal:

“M6 has created shows that audiences in France really love, and we’re excited to bring some of those favourites to Disney+. With their strong appeal among younger viewers, it’s a natural fit and means even more local shows for our customers to enjoy. We’re really pleased to take this next step with M6, and to keep working with broadcasters across Europe to bring their shows to new audiences.”

David Larramendy, Chairman of the executive board of Groupe M6, added:

“We are delighted to extend our longstanding relationship with Disney through this innovative collaboration. It will enable some of our most iconic brands to reach new audiences and benefit from additional exposure among Disney+ subscribers. This agreement reflects the transformation of the audiovisual landscape and demonstrates how broadcasters and streaming services can work together to develop new models that benefit audiences, content and creators alike.”

Roger’s Take:  In recent years, Disney+ has been making similar content-sharing agreements with European platforms, including ITV in the UK, Atresmedia in Spain and ZDF in Germany.  These deals help keep Disney+ in line with its European quota, deliver more popular shows and films to audiences, and support local content.  While I would prefer Disney+ to develop its own original content, these sharing deals do seem like a win/win for everyone involved.
