As part of a recent restructuring of Walt Disney’s Television division, Disney+ has lost it’s VP of Nonfiction Originals, Dan Silver, to Netflix, where he will be the Director of Documentary Feature Films.

At Netflix, Dan will be reporting to to Lisa Nishimura, VP Independent Film and Documentary Features at Netflix.

Dan Silver was responsible for development on a number of Disney+ Originals including “The Imagineering Story”, “Howard”, “Encore”, “Muppets Now”, “Marvel’s 616” and the upcoming “On Pointe”.   He also developed Marvel’s “Wolverine: The Long Night” podcast and also worked as a producer on the Disney movie, “The Queen of Katwe”.

The Disney+ Unscripted Content and Production teams have recently been to Disney’s new General Entertainment group.  With Dan having to report to multiple people over the past 6 months due to the recent Disney restructuring, as the Disney+ Unscripted Content and Production teams moved to Peter Rice’s Disney General Entertainment group under Gary Marsh.

Sources say Silver opted to leave Disney in the midst of all reorganizations. It’s unclear if Disney will replace his role.
