This weekend, Disney fans from around the world are attending a special three-day “D23: Ultimate Fan Event” in Anaheim, California and Disney is set to close the weekend with its Disney Legends Award ceremony.

Since 1987, the Disney Legends Awards program has honoured gifted individuals for the significant impact they’ve had on the Disney legacy.

This year, Ryan Seacrest will present the Awards to Colleen Atwood, Angela Bassett, Martha Blanding, James L. Brooks, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Miley Cyrus, Steve Ditko, Harrison Ford, Mark Henn, Frank Oz, Kelly Ripa, Joe Rohde, and John Williams.

The 2024 class of Disney Legends will be taking place on Sunday, 11th August 2024, at 5 p.m.  The event will be taking place at the Honda Center, rather than in the usual Anaheim Convention Center, to enable more people to attend.  Disney is also going to be live-streaming the event to the Premiere Stage at convention center for those unable to get across to the Honda Center.

In previous years, the event has been live-streamed onto YouTube, however this year, the event is being recorded and will be made available on Disney+ on Monday 12th August 2024 at 5PM ET/2PM PT in the US and Canada.  So it looks like it’s not going to be available globally.

Roger’s Take: It’s great that this Disney Legends event is going to be available in the US and Canada on Disney+, but it’s such a shame its not being released globally and also not being live-streamed during the event like previous years. Disney seems to have dropped the ball for this year’s D23 event, as earlier this year at CES that they would be streaming directly to Disney+.
