Disney is developing a new Korean spy drama called “Tempest”, which follows Seo Munju, a highly accomplished diplomat and former ambassador to the United States, and Sanho, an international special agent shrouded in a veil of secrets, as they race to uncover the truth behind an attack that threatens the future stability of the Korean peninsula.

“Tempest” is going to star Gianna Jun in the role of Seo, and Gang Dongwon will play the role of Sanho. Deadline has also revealed that the series has added John Cho (Star Trek), Christopher Gorham (The Lincoln Lawyer), Alicia Hannah-Kim (Cobra Kai) and Jacob Bertrand (Cobra Kai) to its cast.

No details have been revealed about what characters they will be playing have been revealed.

The new series is being created by Chung Seokyung, who has previously worked on “Decision to Leave” and “The Handmaiden”. “Tempest” is being directed by Kim Heewon (Queen of Tears, Little Women) and co-directed by Korean martial arts director Heo Myunghaeng (The Outlaws 4). The series is produced by Imaginus, Showrunners, Studio AA and Action School.

Production is currently underway in Seoul, and “Tempest” will be released in 2025 on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.

Roger’s Take: The addition of this cast is certainly going to make this show much more of a global attraction and should hopefully bring more attention to this Korean drama.  Jacob was fantastic in “Cobra Kai”, and I really liked John in the “Star Trek” movies, so this show certainly caught my attention.
