Disney Hosts “A Thousand Blows” World Premiere At London Film Festival
Last night, Disney held the world premiere at the National Film Theatre as part of the BFI London Film Festival for the upcoming British Original series, “A Thousand Blows”, which has been created by Steven Knight, acclaimed creator of the global hit series, “Peaky Blinders.”
This brand-new series is set in the perilous world of illegal boxing in 1880s Victorian London. It tells the story of Hezekiah and Alec, who have recently arrived in London from Jamaica, encounter Sugar Goodson, a notorious veteran boxer, and Mary Carr, leader of an all-female gang. Each fight for survival on the violent, crime-ridden streets of the city’s East End, in this riveting series inspired by real-life figures.
Attending the world premiere was Daniel Mays, Tom Miller, Erin Doherty, Hannah Walters, Stephen Graham, Malachi Kirby, Steven Knight, Kate Lewis, Damian Keogh, Sam Myer, along with many other guests.
The series is produced by The Story Collective in a co-production with Matriarch Productions and Water & Power Productions. The thrilling series is brought to life by acclaimed screenwriter Steven Knight, starring and executive produced by Stephen Graham. Steven Knight is the lead writer for the series, with episodes also written by a group of new voices including Ameir Brown, Insook Chappell, Harlan Davies and Yasmin Joseph. The series is directed, and executive produced by Tinge Krishnan and Nick Murphy, alongside Ashley Walters and Coky Giedroyc.
The first season of “A Thousand Blows” is coming to Disney+ in the UK and Ireland, Hulu in the U.S. and select other countries on Disney+ in 2025.
