Over the next few years, Disney+ will be creating over 60 local productions across Europe, as it continues to work with outstanding creators and premium producers as part of the company’s commitment to source, develop and produce original productions for European audiences.

As part of this expansion, Disney has been heavily investing in the UK, including making long term leases for the majority of Pinewood Studios, which is where upcoming films like “The Little Mermaid” and “Indiana Jones 5” have been filmed, along with the Disney+ Original series “Andor”, “Willow” and much more.

Deadline is reporting that Disney has hired ts first casting executive in the territory.

London-based casting agent Kate Ringsell has joined Disney in a permanent role as Vice President, Casting, Walt Disney Studios, 20th Century, Searchlight.

Kate Ringsell has previously worked with Disney on the upcoming Disney+ Original film, “Peter Pan & Wendy”.  She has also worked on “Tolkien” and on several DC projects, including “The Flash” and “Batgirl”.

There is lots of competition by all of the different streaming services for talent and space to create new films and shows, especially, since streaming services have a quota to have a certain amount of content created within Europe in order to operate.

Plus, the UK has a long-standing infrastructure, with tax credits and a vast array of talented actors, crew and creators, who have a common language with the United States, which has led to a boom in production.
