Disney CEO Bob Iger Confirms How Many Movies Will Be On Disney+ At Launch
During the Walt Disney Companies third quarter financial results investor call, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed some details for what content will be available on day one for Disney+.
Disney+ will contain over 300 movies on the first day, which include:
- 8 Star Wars Films
- 4 Marvel Films
- 18 Pixar Movies
- 70 Disney Animation Films
- 240 Disney Live Action Films
This number will grow to over 400 movies within the first year, which will include eight more Marvel titles and will include this yeas big hits such as Aladdin, Avengers: Endgame, Toy Story 4, Star Wars: Rise Of The Skywalker, Frozen 2, The Lion King and more.
There will also be over 7500 episodes of TV including 600 hours of National Geographic content. This will also continue to grow after the streaming service launches.
Disney+ will also include many new Original films and shows such as the Star Wars: The Mandalorian and a new live action version of Lady and the Tramp.
The Marvel movie lineup looks rather weak at the moment because of existing deals with Netflix and that earlier movies from the MCU were made with other companies such as Paramount and Universal, so they have different distribution deals.
Expect more details to be revealed at the D23 Expo in a couple of weeks about what the majority of these launch movies will be.
