Disney+ Adds Live Radio Disney Station In Brazil

Recently, new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro confirmed his plans to make its streaming service, Disney+, the “digital centrepiece” of the company, and it looks like the platform continues to expand the type of content it offers its subscribers.

Disney+ subscribers in some Latin American countries, such as Brazil, can now access the Radio Disney station directly in the app.  Similar to how it also offers some ESPN audio content via Disney+.

Subscribers can find the Radio Disney station within the live section of the platform, and the station will continue to be available on its other platforms, such as its own app, FM, online, etc.  As with other live broadcasts, subscribers can get a schedule for upcoming shows.

In order to make the Disney+ stream on your television more appealing, rather than just a blank screen, the feed includes the time and local weather, along with posts from official Disney Instagram accounts.

We’ve already seen Disney expand the types of content available to subscribers, adding companion podcasts to many of its shows, and it seems they’ve realised that the more content available directly through Disney+ will increase engagement in the app by offering different types of entertainment, such as the recent addition of Streams channels.

Hopefully, we will start seeing more content like radio stations added directly to Disney+ in other regions.  There is also lots of additional music from Disney’s archives that could also be made available through Disney+, such as their new country album.

Roger’s Take:  This makes complete sense.  Disney creates so much content in many different formats, so why not utilise that and make it available on as many platforms as possible?  I regularly put radio stations and playlists on through YouTube on my TV (ironically, right now while I’m typing this article!), so this would certainly be a feature I’d use.

Do you think making radio stations directly through Disney+ is a good idea?  Let me know on social media!
