Just ahead of the premiere of the second season of “Criminal Minds: Evolution”, it’s been revealed that the show has been renewed for a third season.

The series is a continuation of the popular long-running series, “Criminal Minds”, which ran for fifteen seasons from 2005-2020 and follows the FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers come up against their greatest threat yet, an UnSub who has used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers. As the world opens back up and the network goes operational, the team must hunt them down, one murder at a time.

“Criminal Minds: Evolution” stars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Zach Gilford, Ryan-James Hatanaka with Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster. Felicity Huffman will guest star this season.

The series is produced by ABC Signature and CBS Studios. Erica Messer (“Criminal Minds,” “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders”) serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Breen Frazier, Chris Barbour, Glenn Kershaw and Mark Gordon also executive producing.

Production on the third season is set to begin later this year, so we should expect to see the show return to our screens for a third season in 2025.

The second season of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” is set to premiere with two brand new episodes in the United States on Paramount+ on Thursday 6th June 2024.   The new season will also premiere on Disney+ in many countries around the world including Canada and Australia on Friday 7th June 2024  Though in the UK, the series will premiere a week later on Disney+  June 14th 2024 with a triple episode premiere.

The first season of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” is available to stream on Paramount+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.  The previous fifteen seasons of the original “Criminal Minds” series are also available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.

Roger’s Take:  Considering how popular “Criminal Minds” continues to be, not just on Paramount+ in the US but on Disney+ and Hulu, it’s not a huge surprise to see this franchise continuing with another season.  It’s exactly what both Disney and Paramount want: an established franchise that keeps performing, it’s a win-win for both companies to continue their long-running partnership.
