Earlier this week, Disney announced that Dave Filoni was developing a second season of “Star Wars: Ashoka”, which is set after the fall of the Empire and follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The first season was released on Disney+ around the world last summer and stars Rosario Dawson in the title role along with Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, Ivanna Sakhno, Diana Lee Inosanto, David Tennant, Lars Mikkelsen and Eman Esfandi.

Since then, Disney has released some concept art showing Ahsoka and Sabine standing on the outstretched hand of the statue of the Father, who is one of the Mortis Gods, which was hinted at during the cliffhanger of the first season.

With the season one cliffhanger leaving Sabine and Ahsoka on the other side of the universe, we will likely see how they manage to get back home. Meanwhile, Thrawn will continue his task of rebuilding the Empire.

It hasn’t been announced when the second season of “Ahsoka” will begin filming or when it is likely to be released on Disney+, though it probably won’t be for a while, since Lucasfilm is focusing on filming the new “Mandalorian & Grogu” and “Rey” films that have been announced.

The first season was directed by Dave Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa. Dave Filoni is the head writer and executive producer, along with Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Karen Gilchrist serves as co-executive producer.

While we wait for the second season, you can watch the first season of “Ahsoka” on Disney+ now, along with the animated series, “Rebels” and “The Clone Wars”, which will likely have even more importance with this series.
