Last year, Lucasfilm released the first season of “Ahsoka”, an instalment in the Star Wars franchise, which is set after the fall of the Empire, “Star Wars: Ahsoka” follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The series did very well in the ratings, pulling in over 14 million viewers for the premiere episode, and there have been many fans speculating as to if or when we might see a second season.

Today, Disney confirmed that Dave Filoni is developing a second season of the show for Disney+.  This is in addition to him working on a new film.  There are also three other new films in development by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold and Jon Favreau.

No other information has been announced regarding the second season, such as when filming is set to begin or when it’s likely to be released on Disney+.  It’s also unclear how Disney will handle the character Baylan Skoll, as sadly, the actor, Ray Stevenson, passed away following the filming of the last season.

“Ahsoka” stars Rosario Dawson in the title role, along with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

The series is written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Karen Gilchrist is a co-executive producer.

In the meantime, Disney+ is set to get two new live-action series this year, “The Acolyte” and “Skeleton Crew”, plus next year, we should see the second season of “Andor”.   So it might be a while until we see the second season of “Ahsoka”.

While we wait for the second season of “Ashoka”, which will likely lead into the events of Dave Filoni’s upcoming film, you can watch the first season of “Ahsoka” on Disney+ now.
