“CMA Country Christmas” Removed From Disney+ (US)
Disney has recently removed the “CMA Country Christmas” special from Disney+ in the United States.
Returning for its 12th year. Bringing the holidays home again. Inviting viewers to sit back and enjoy the season in a warm and intimate setting reminiscent of classic Christmas television specials of the past. A night of festive performances and cozy holiday moments, celebrating the magic of the Christmas season. Filmed in Nashville, featuring some of country music’s most beloved artists coming together for an intimate night full of holiday classics.
Featuring new and original songs, plus long-time Christmas favorites, this seasonal showcase rings in the holiday spirit with performances by first-time hosts Gabby Barrett and Carly Pearce, plus Jimmie Allen with Louis York & The Shindellas, BRELAND, Brett Eldredge, Lady A, Pistol Annies, Carrie Underwood and Lainey Wilson. Barrett and Pearce come together for the finale – a special collaboration featuring two student musicians, supporting CMA’s longstanding commitment to support equity in music education.
This holiday special was only added to Disney+ in December 2021, so has only been available for around 6 months.
It’s unknown why the removal has happened, but generally, holiday specials, especially those involving musical performances, have only been temporary additions to Disney+, likely due to limited licenses for music.
