“Bluey” Remains Second Most Watched Streaming Show In February
Nielsen has released its latest “Gauge” data update for February 2025, which has given us a broad overview of how Americans watch television. This includes linear and streaming services like Disney+ and Hulu.
The data has shown that the Super Bowl was a huge draw for audiences, pulling in 110 billion viewing minutes and a record-breaking 127.7 million viewers on FOX and Tubi. This was the first time the Super Bowl was streamed for free and that helped drastically increase its usage in February, up 17% on the previous month.
Following typical seasonal trends, time spent watching television decreased from January to February. Streaming was the least impacted.
Netflix owned the top streaming program in February with its original action-thriller series “The Night Agent”, which captured 6 billion viewing minutes across the month, with “Bluey” on Disney+ being the second most watched show with 4.2 billion minutes.
Following the launch of Hulu On Disney+ and ESPN On Disney+, Nielsen has merged all three of the streaming services, Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+, into a single entity. “Disney Streaming”, which now highlights how they are the third biggest streaming platform behind Netflix and YouTube.
Roger’s Take: The monthly Gauge data from Nielsen is always a good indication of how the American audience is consuming its television. The combined Disney streaming viewership gives a more realistic view, since a large portion of Hulu viewership now happens within Disney+, the lines have been blurred between the three streaming services. It’ll be interesting to see how the lack of American Football will impact on the viewership numbers in March.
