Just under two years ago, Disney finally released a sequel to the popular cult Halloween classic film, “Hocus Pocus” on Disney+ around the world, which went on to become a huge success for Disney+, as it was the biggest film premiere on Disney+ domestically to date, based on hours streamed in the first three days of its release.

The sequel is set 29 years after someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now, it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.

Both films star Bette Midler (“The First Wives Club,” “Beaches”), Sarah Jessica Parker (“Sex and the City,” “Divorce”), and Kathy Najimy (“Sister Act,” “Younger”) as the delightfully wicked Sanderson sisters.

Last year, it was revealed that Jen D’Angelo was working on a script for the film, and recently, Bette Midler appeared on The Jess Cagle Show, where she teased that Disney is working on another sequel, and she’s involved in the process.

This week, Bette Midler appeared on the QVC+ talk show Busy This Week and shared that development is still ongoing on the show and wants Disney to hurry up in getting another sequel moving:

“I haven’t seen the script, but I’ve heard rumblings.  I think if they’re gonna, they oughta because time is not just marching. Time is barrel-assing to the finish line. Get us while we’re still breathing, I mean, God!”

Roger’s Take:  Bette seems very open about returning for another film and considering how successful the sequel was on Disney+.  I hope the development process speeds up. As Bette alludes to, she is going to be eighty years old next year, so the window of opportunity is getting smaller.

Both “Hocus Pocus” films are available to stream on Disney+.
