“Betrayal: Under His Eye” Trailer Released

Disney has announced details on the third season of brand new true crime docuseries, “Betrayal,” which is based on the No. 1 true crime podcast of the same name.

“Betrayal: Under His Eye” follows Stacey, a single mother whose whirlwind romance with charming physician Dr. Justin Rutherford seemed like a dream come true. The couple married, moved into a beautiful new home, and began creating what felt like a picture-perfect life together – until the discovery of a hidden camera in the family’s home unearthed dark secrets. Stacey was forced to confront a devastating betrayal that shook her family to its core. Eventually, Rutherford is put behind bars when a key witness comes forward, and Stacey and her children begin the long process of healing and finding a new normal. But just as they start to rebuild, the case takes an even more disturbing turn when Rutherford is accused of plotting murder to silence the case’s key witness.

Across three gripping episodes, “Betrayal: Under His Eye” spotlights the key witness, a young survivor whose bravery helped expose the truth about Rutherford; features raw and emotional interviews with Stacey, her children and their relatives; and has an exclusive interview with actor and advocate for survivors of sexual abuse Anthony Edwards. The series also includes chilling audio, court testimony, and never-before-seen evidence that takes viewers inside the unraveling of a man who weaponized charm, trust and power to manipulate everyone around him.

“Betrayal: Under His Eye” is produced by Glass Entertainment and ABC News Studios. Nancy Glass and Jon Hirsch are executive producers for Glass Entertainment. Conal Byrne is executive producer for iHeartPodcasts. For ABC News Studios, David Sloan is the senior executive producer, Muriel Pearson is executive producer, and Eileen Murphy is senior editorial producer.

The documentary series will premiere on Tuesday, 2nd September 2025 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ in many countries including Canada. The first two seasons are available to stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
