Disney has announced that ABC’s ‘Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration’ has been a huge success with its multiplatform release across ABC and Disney+.  It was able to grow its US 3-Day multiplatform audience to 6.3 million viewers, with the special gaining an additional 2 million viewers on the delayed multiplatform viewing, which includes Disney+ and Hulu.

“Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration” jumped to a 1.40 rating among Adults 18-49 after three days of cross-platform viewing, marking an increase of +77% over its initial Live+Same Day rating.  This new was collected by the Nielsen Company.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of the animated classic, this animated and live-action blended special showcases the fan-favorite movie, along with new musical performances, sets and costumes inspired by the classic story.

The special presentation includes live never-before-seen musical performances and features brand-new sets and breathtaking costumes inspired by the classic story. Each performance was created to pay homage while also adding to the iconic story for viewers at home. Songs from the original animated classic were performed in front of a live audience at Disney Studios.  It stars Josh Groban, H.E.R, Martin Short, David Alan Grier and Shania Twain, along with Rizwan Manji, Jon Jon Briones and Leo Abelo Perry.

This year, 2022, marks the 30th anniversary of when Disney Animation’s “Beauty and the Beast” became the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. The film went on to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, while the theme song “Beauty and the Beast” won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1992.

‘Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration’ is available to stream now on Disney+ in the US.
