To celebrate Saint David’s Day, the BBC has released some new videos on social media and confirmed that filming on the third block of episodes on the fourteenth season of “Doctor Who”, has begun on March 1st 2023, in Cardiff, Wales.

“Doctor Who” is about an eccentric yet compassionate extraterrestrial Time Lord who zips through time and space to solve problems and battle injustice across the universe.

It was also announced that internationally-renowned director Julie Anne Robinson had joined the show to direct episodes from Block Three of the new series.    She has previously worked on “Bridgerton”, “Scandal”, “Orange Is the New Black” and “The Middle”.

Showrunner Russell T Davies told Doctor Who Magazine:

“Julie Anne is a dream piece of crewing for me, because I’ve wanted to work with her ever since sitting in awe of the BBC’s Blackpool.  Julie Anne comes with the best reference ever – an actor called David Tennant, who starred in Blackpool and loves her!”

Doctor Who returns in November 2023 with three special episodes to coincide with the 60th anniversary with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor on the BBC in the UK and Ireland, with the series being released everywhere else exclusively on Disney+.

The Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, will then take control of the TARDIS, with his first episode airing over the festive period in 2023, which have been directed by Mark Tonderai.

The new season will star Catherine Tate, Yasmin Finney, Neil Patrick Harris, Anita Dobson, Jemma Redgrave, Aneurin Barnard, Michelle Greenidge, Jacqueline King, Karl Collins and Ruth Madeley. The fourth block director will be Ben Chessell.
