Disney has announced that ABC has renewed the hit series “The Rookie”, for a seventh season, continuing the story of John Nolan, who was once the oldest rookie in the LAPD. Has used his life experience, determination and sense of humour to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior. Nolan feels like it can’t get much better, now that his life with Bailey is moving forward, and he has chosen his career path. However, he and his team must grapple with the aftermath of their recent assaults before they can move forward.

The recent season brought in strong ratings, where it has been the most-watched episode in nearly six years, with 11.92 million Total Viewers across platforms after 35 days of viewing.  Viewership is up over 14% over the previous season, which will no doubt be a major reason why ABC has renewed the show.

The sixth season is currently being released weekly on ABC, in addition to being available on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States.   The previous seasons are also available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.

While Disney is pulling back on how much general entertainment it is making to save money, it is focused on delivering quality over quantity, in addition to popular franchises.

The show is created by Lionsgate Television, who is the lead studio and international distributor of “The Rookie” and it is a co-production with Disney’s ABC Signature, which is why the show isn’t available on Disney+ internationally.

“The Rookie” stars Nathan Fillion, along with Mekia Cox, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Jenna Dewan, Shawn Ashmore, Tru Valentino and Lisseth Chavez.

The show has been executive-produced by Alexi Hawley, Mark Gordon, Fillion, Michelle Chapman, Brynn Malone, Bill Norcross and Jon Steinberg.
