ABC Pulls “The Bachelorette” After Taylor Frankie Paul Domestic Incident Investigation

This weekend, “The Bachelorette” was going to return for its 22nd season with its premiere on Sunday night on ABC.  However, those plans have been thrown into chaos following details of a domestic assault investigation against the show’s star, Taylor Frankie Paul, who is also the star of the hit series, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives”.

After igniting “MomTok” and going viral for pulling back the curtain on Salt Lake’s soft-swinging scene in Hulu’s EmmyAward-nominated series “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” the 31-year-old Utah native was ready to trade headline-making heartbreak for hometown dates as she begins making her mark on Bachelor Nation.

Taylor Frankie Paul was the breakout star of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” captivating millions with her raw, unapologetic storytelling. Off-screen, she’s described as a TikTok powerhouse , who’s comedic, heartwarming and bitingly honest content has earned her a massive following. As a single mother of three, Paul shares the highs and lows of her life with unfiltered candor. With humor, resilience and a fearless openness, she inspires others to embrace life’s chaos and own their story.

Earlier this week it was revealed that filming on the fifth season of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” had been paused due to the allegations involving Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortenson.

A new video from 2023 became public on Thursday, showing Frankie repeatedly trying to physically attack Mortenson and throwing several metal barstools at him. In the footage, Paul’s daughter can be seen, with Mortensen yelling out, “Your daughter is right here,” as she launched another chair his way.

This incident eventually led Frankie Paul to plead guilty to aggravated assault and the Draper City Police Department have also confirmed that there is an open “domestic assault investigation” involving the pair with allegations “made in both directions.”

Over the past few days, Disney has been reviewing its options for the premiere of “The Bachelorette”, before making the decision to pull the entire series.

Disney has already wiped the show from its press website and said in a statement regarding the decision to pull the show:

“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of “The Bachelorette” at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,”

“The Bachelorette” is produced by Warner Horizon Unscripted Television, a Warner Bros. Television Group company. Scott Teti serves as executive producer.

Roger’s Take:  Once filming on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” was paused, I honestly was expecting this to happen or at least for the premiere to be delayed.  Ultimately, Disney doesn’t really have a choice in not moving forward with airing this show, as it would have just created an even bigger PR disaster for the company.
