ABC Picks Up Hilary Swank’s “Alaska” To A Series
Disney’s ABC has ordered a full series of the new Hilary Swank drama series, “Alaska”. The announcement was made ahead of Disney’s Upfront event, which will take place in New York next week to find advertisers for the shows.
In “Alaska,” Swank plays Eileen Fitzgerald, “a recently disgraced reporter who leaves her high-profile New York life behind to join a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.”
Also starring are Jeff Perry as Stanley Cornik, Matt Malloy as Bob Young, Meredith Holzman as Claire Muncy, Grace Dove as Rosalind “Roz” Friendly, Pablo Castelblanco as Gabriel Martin, Ami Park as Jieun Park and Craig Frank as Austin Greene.
The series will be directed and written by Tom McCarthy, who is also an executive producer on the show. Other executive producers include Hilary Swank, Melissa Wells, Bert Salke, Kyle Hopkins and Ryan Binkley also executive produce for 20th Television.
No release date has yet been announced for when this series will air on ABC and Hulu. It’s also going to be released internationally as a Star Original on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ internationally.
