Taylor Frankie Paul Quits “The Secret Life Of Mormon Wives”

Back in 2024, Disney released a brand-new original reality series on Hulu and Disney+ called “The Secret Life of Mormon Wives”, which follows the scandalous world of a group of Mormon mom influencers as it implodes when they get caught in the midst of a swinging sex scandal that makes international headlines. Now, their sisterhood is shaken to its core. Faith, friendship and reputations are all on the line. Will #MomTok be able to survive and continue to give the rulebook a run for its money, or will this group fall from grace?

The show went on to become one of the biggest successes for Hulu and Disney+, with the fifth season recently dropping earlier this month.  However, the latest season only consisted of five episodes due to some legal issues with the show’s star, Taylor Frankie Paul, who was released after a video of her throwing barstools at her partner that led to her arrest.   This footage becoming public also resulted in Disney shelving an entire season of “The Bachelorette“.

It had been reported that Taylor was going to be returning for the sixth season of “The Secret Life Of Mormon Wives”, but today, Taylor Frankie Paul, took to Instagram to confirm she is stepping away from the show:

My gratitude goes to all the networks that supported me throughout this and gave me the chance to return. However I don’t desire to move forward like this. I originally was willing to be removed to let them all continue on with less stress and I’m back to that point. Some of the girls know what I’ve been through and then to turn and collectively pile on with their “statements” knowing there has been ongoing abuse through the system the last 8 months on top of what I’ve endured. Almost the entire cast plus some, going at me….laughing about my kids is disgusting. And I bit my tongue there. These same people had meetings telling me I need to lead the way of pay….my voice was the only one that can make it happen and then they would work from what I demanded. I’m grateful I never followed through with their requests of demands and I’m grateful I kept same pay out of fairness and integrity. I treated production and crew with respect always, in fact they are ones who checked on me throughout this. I agree it’s to the point of bullying for months now. What makes it harder to take in is some of these parents have made mistakes that would result in the same judgement I’m receiving yet pointing a finger. However it’s a pleasure to remove myself so they can continue, because I’ve almost convinced myself I’m deserving of all this pain and to a certain degree absolutely this is consequences of my actions. My question has been how much suffering and scrutiny is going to be enough…I’m just relieved to be out.

Recently, Disney announced that the show had been renewed for another twenty episodes for two more seasons and that filming had already begun, but the show seems to be going through major turmoil with its cast, which could put its future at risk.

A few months ago, Whitney Leavitt revealed she was leaving the show to focus on her acting career, and last week, Mikayla Matthews said she “will not be continuing the show at this moment” because of Taylor’s return.

“The ONLY reason I’m leaving the show is because I was told a certain person was coming back.  I told them before agreeing to do [Season] 6 that I wasn’t going to film if that certain someone came back because it’s UNETHICAL and kids are involved.”

Other cast members, Mayci Neeley and Layla Taylor, also stood behind Mikayla Matthews, saying

“I am finishing this current season that we are filming and then not sure for after that,”

The big question moving forward is if the show can continue to pull in enough viewers without Taylor Frankie Paul involvement, or if this is a show, like many reality shows, that can continue for years to come with a revolving chair of cast.

All five seasons of “The Secret Life Of Mormon Wives” are available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
