Hulu Signs New Deal With “We’re Here To Help” Podcast
Podcasting has become one of the new content formats being explored by streaming services like Disney+ and Hulu, with new companion podcasts being launched to go alongside the latest original shows such as “Paradise”, “Dancing With The Stars” and “Percy Jackson And The Olympians”. Disney has also signed deals to have access to many of the most popular sports podcasts for ESPN, as a way of encouraging more engagement.
Disney is continuing this trend as Hulu has signed a new first-of-its-kind, exclusive deal for comedy advice podcast, “We’re Here To Help”, which is hosted by Jake Johnson and Gareth Reynolds.
This duo don’t feel qualified to give strangers good advice. Most of their friendship over the last 15 years has been based around dumb bits, but they do (for better or worse) want to try to help people out. Like your friendly local bartender or your tipsy uncle at a family gathering, Jake and Gareth are on the caller’s side and trying to help. Each episode, the guys make several pitches to callers (whose questions range from trivial to serious) with their best attempts of advice. They can’t promise their suggestions will be perfect, but they will be the best they’ve got. Jake and Gareth also occasionally bring on a friend, peer or even an expert to help along the way.
As part of this new deal, new episodes will begin streaming twice a week on Hulu from February 10th 2026, on Sundays and Tuesdays, a day before they are available on the podcast’s soon-to-be relaunched YouTube channel, as well as audio platforms. Hulu will have the streaming rights to both the existing catalogue and all new episodes.
Jake Johnson said in a statement regarding the new deal:
“We started this podcast during the actors’ strike over Zoom, and made the show independently, with no real plan beyond making something we liked and staying creative. Licensing to a streamer was never even a thought, so getting to partner with Headgum and Hulu to bring it to more people is pretty surreal. We love making the show, and with New Girl and Self Reliance already there, Hulu feels like the perfect home.”
Headgum’s Vice President of Content, Kaiti Moos, added:
“Jake and Gareth have amassed such an incredible fanbase over the years, and we’re looking forward to sharing We’re Here to Help with an even broader audience. Hulu is the perfect partner to help us bring the series into this exciting next chapter, with their creator-first philosophy and global reach.”
Roger’s Take: As streaming services look to increase the amount of content on their platforms, shifting to podcasts is something we are likely to see continue, as these shows are often cheap to make and, more importantly, drive watched minutes up quickly, which increase ad revenue. This is likely going to be something we see more and more in the years to come, as podcasts become much more mainstream and the popular shows will no doubt have more reach being on more platforms.
