“20/20″ What Happened To The McStays?” Coming Soon To ABC, Hulu & Disney+

Disney has announced details on a brand new episode of its award-winning documentary news series, “20/20”, called “What Happened To The McStays?”, which will be coming to ABC, Hulu and Disney+ this week.

It’s one of the most baffling missing person cases in recent memory. A family of four from San Diego County, California, seemingly vanished into thin air. Joseph McStay, along with his wife Summer, four-year-old son Gianni and three-year-old son Joseph Jr., went missing. When investigators search the home, they find the family’s two beloved dogs unattended outside, rotting food on the kitchen counter, and clothes strewn across the floor. The case soon garners international interest when the family’s abandoned car is discovered near the Mexican border. Years would pass with no new leads or information on this family of four. Chief national correspondent Matt Gutman reports on the case that has baffled investigators and brings viewers new interviews and evidence in this California mystery.

ABC News’ “20/20” is an award-winning primetime program anchored by David Muir and Deborah Roberts. A proven leader as a long-form newsmagazine for over 45 years, “20/20” features unforgettable, character-driven true-crime mysteries, exclusive newsmaker interviews, hard-hitting investigative reports, and in-depth coverage of high-profile stories. Janice Johnston is the executive producer.

This two-hour special will premiere on Friday, 3rd October 2025 at 9 pm on ABC, and it will stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States. Previous recent episodes of “20/20” are also available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
