Last week it was rumored that the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ Original series featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi was cancelled, which were quickly refuted.  But now Collider is reporting that the crew currently working on the project at the Pinewood Studios in London were sent home, as the show was on hold “indefinitely.”  So it’s unknown when the show will restart production and when the series will eventually find its way onto Disney+.

The reason for the delay is apparently down to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy not being happy with the scripts.  So its likely that the scripts will go back to be worked on, with the show hopefully going back into production this summer.  Though nothing has yet been confirmed.

Following the huge success of “The Mandalorian” and the lukewarm reception to “The Rise Of Skywalker”, Lucasfilm look to be making sure they don’t make the same mistakes they’ve made recently.  While this isn’t good news for fans wanting to see the next Disney+ Star Wars series, its better that the show is delayed to make it better, especially if there are issues with the script.  There have been many issues with previous Star Wars projects such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story, which required reshoots.  So stopping production before then, makes more sense.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi project originally was going to be released as a movie as part of the “A Star Wars Story” range of movies, but was put on hold when Solo failed at the box office.  It was then changed to a Disney+ series, which required changing the script.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to be directed by Deborah Chow, who previously directed an episode of “The Mandalorian”, which is returning for a second season on Disney+ later this year.
