
‘9-1-1’ Shocker Scores Big Hit For ABC, Hulu & Hulu On Disney+
Earlier this month, Disney released a shocking episode of the hit procedural drama series, “9-1-1”, called “Lab Rats”, which saw Athena and Buck in a race against time to rescue the rest of the 118 following the fire in the bio lab.
“9-1-1″ explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders — including police officers, firefighters and dispatchers — who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping conditions. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from the real lives of first responders who regularly face situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time.
The shocking ending of that episode has proven to be a big hit for Disney, as within the first seven days of viewering, it pulled in 8.45 million viewers in the United States across ABC, Hulu, Hulu On Disney+ and digital platforms.
With a riveting episode in which the 118 bravely confronted a biohazard catastrophe, “9-1-1” rose slightly over the previous week in Total Viewers (+0.2%; vs. 8.43 million), while up double digits in Adults 18-49 (+11%; vs. 1.57 rating), scoring the highest rating in the key Adult demo in five months – since 11/7/24.
“9-1-1” posted its top-performing episode on streaming since the season premiere on 9/27/24, based on seven-day views on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. No international viewership on Disney+ has been released.
On linear, the show earned 5.64 million Total Viewers and a 0.56 rating in Adults 18-49, rising by double digits over the show’s initial Live+Same Day audience in Total Viewers (+48%; vs. 3.81 million) and Adults 18-49 (+56%; vs. 0.36 rating).
The series stars Angela Bassett as Athena Grant, Peter Krause as Bobby Nash, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Han, Oliver Stark as Evan “Buck” Buckley, Kenneth Choi as Howie “Chimney” Han, Aisha Hinds as Henrietta “Hen” Wilson, Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz and Gavin McHugh as Christopher Diaz.
Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, “9-1-1” is produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision. Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, John J. Gray, Brad Buecker, Kristen Reidel, Lyndsey Beaulieu, Ted Griffen and Robert M. Williams also serve as executive producers. Minear also serves as showrunner.
The previous seasons of “9-1-1” are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
