Disney has announced that it has renewed the hit drama series, “9-1-1” for a ninth season and much like the majority of other seasons, the ninth season will consist of 18 episodes.

The series explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders — including police officers, firefighters and dispatchers — who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping conditions. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from the real lives of first responders who regularly face situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time.

Since the show left FOX and headed to ABC, the show has regularly been one of the channel’s most watched shows, and it also continues to pull in large numbers of viewers on Hulu and Disney+.    A new spin-off series set in Nashville has also been recently announced.

The series stars Angela Bassett as Athena Grant, Peter Krause as Bobby Nash, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Han, Oliver Stark as Evan “Buck” Buckley, Kenneth Choi as Howie “Chimney” Han, Aisha Hinds as Henrietta “Hen” Wilson, Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz and Gavin McHugh as Christopher Diaz.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, “9-1-1” is produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision. Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, John J. Gray, Brad Buecker, Kristen Reidel, Lyndsey Beaulieu, Ted Griffen and Robert M. Williams also serve as executive producers. Minear also serves as showrunner.

The previous eight seasons are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally, where it is available exclusively in many countries like the UK.

Roger’s Take: This renewal shouldn’t come as a huge shock considering how well the show has done since moving from FOX to ABC, plus they’ve got another spin-off series in development.  This series has everything a police and fire service fan could want, which is why so many people keep returning for this hit series.
