One of the first films Disney was set to release in 2022 was 20th Century Studios’ “Deep Water”, a psychological/erotic thriller about a well-to-do husband who allows his wife to have affairs in order to avoid a divorce becomes a prime suspect in the disappearance of her lovers.

Originally the film was going to be released on 14th January 2022, but Disney has now removed the movie from its theatrical release schedule. This isn’t the first time it’s been delayed, as it has previously been scheduled to release in cinemas in November 2020, before being postponed to August 2021.

No details have been revealed why the film has been removed from the release schedule.  There could be many reasons, such as the current surge in the pandemic, causing people to be more cautious about going to theatres.    We also don’t yet know if the film will remain a theatrical release at a later date, or if it will be moved to Hulu in the US and on Disney+ internationally instead. Disney has also previously sold 20th Century Studios’s films to other platforms including Amazon and Netflix during the pandemic.

With the film due to be released in just a month, 20th Century Studios hasn’t done any promotion for the film, with no trailer, images or posters released for a movie.

“Deep Water” stars Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, who were in a relationship while filming the movie.  “Deep Water” is directed by Adrian Lyne, who previously directed “Fatal Attraction”, “Flashdance”, “Indecent Proposal” and “Fatal Attraction”.  This was Adrian Lyne’s first film in almost 20 years.

This movie is based on a screenplay by Joe Penhall, based on the novel “Deep Water” by Patricia Highsmith, “Deep Water” stars Ben Affleck, Ana de Armas, Tracy Letts, Lil Rel Howery, Finn Wittrock, Dash Mihok, Jacob Elordi, Kristen Connolly, Rachel Blanchard, Jade Fernandez, Michael Braun, Grace Jenkins, Brendan C. Miller and Devyn Tyler. The film is produced by Garrett Basch, Steven Zaillian, Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner, Arnon Milchan and Anthony Katagas.
