ABC is developing a brand new medical drama series based on J.D. Kleinke’s novel “Catching Babies”, which is currently going by the working title, “Untitled Family Medicine”.

The series will follow a team of gifted medical professionals whose careers are dedicated to the beginnings of life: maternal/fetal and family medicine— an area unique in the medical world for the intensity of emotion, political fury, and cultural angst it elicits. They’ll experience the joy of ushering in new life, protecting the most innocent among us, and sometimes becoming the light in the storm for families facing their darkest moments of the soul, even as they grapple with love, loss, and heartbreak of their own.

“Manifest” co-executive producers Margaret Easley and Laura Putney are writing the series. Executive producers for the series will include Johnny Galecki, who played Leonard in “The Big Bang Theory”, along with Reid Scott, Elspeth Keller, Michael Baum and Cory Wood.

No casting details have been revealed, so it’s unknown if Johnny Galecki will star in the series, or stay behind the scenes.

Warner Bros. Television is creating the series, so it is currently unknown if Disney will have worldwide distribution for the series, for it to be released on Star+ and Disney+ internationally.
