21st Century Fox is apparently working on a new series based on the classic family film, The Sandlot, with the original cast returning, according to Slash/Film.

David Mickey Evans, the director of the original Sandlot movie, recently appeared appeared on the The Rain Delay, podcast and said that “He has sold a pitch for a television series sequel to the original movie that will bring all the original cast members back.”

He also said that the new series has been picked up by a streaming service, it could be heading to Disney+ or Hulu.

Two full seasons have already been ordered and the series is due to take place in 1984, when the original cast are now all 33 years old, with their own kids.  Which would make this a very family friendly series, perfect for Disney+.

Last year, it was reported that Fox was working on a Sandlot prequel, but its unclear if that project is still in production or if the focus has shifted to the series.
