Disney Channels To Close In New Zealand After Disney+ Launches

Disney continue to reshuffle their international channel offerings ahead of the launch of Disney+.  Sky in has confirmed that it will be removing the Disney Channel and Disney Junior Channel in New Zealand on November 30th.

Sky also confirmed that some Disney movies will remain on various Sky Movies channels, Neon, and Sky Box Office “well into 2020.”

Disney+ launches in New Zealand and Australia on November 19th, a week after it launches in the United States and Canada.

This follows news that Australia’s Disney Channel would also be closing.  Disney XD was also closed down in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year.  Earlier this year we reported that Disney are planning on closing channels throughout Europe and Latin America.

Last month, Disney closed down its Cinematic channel on Sky in Germany and started removing channels from Sky in Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany.  Which is one of the reasons the majority of Europe isn’t getting Disney+ on November 11th, other than the Netherlands.  National Geographic is also being effected in some countries like Italy.

Expect to see more changes with traditional channels throughout the world as Disney move movies and shows to their streaming platform Disney+.

Are you going to miss the Disney Channel on Sky?
