“ZOMBIES 4: Dawn Of The Vampires” Becomes Massive Hit For Disney+
Earlier this month, Disney released a brand new original film called “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires” on Disney+ and the Disney Channel.
In the first three “ZOMBIES” movies, Zed and Addison brought human and monsterkind together in their hometown of Seabrook. Now, a new adventure dawns for the duo when their summer road trip takes an unexpected detour, landing them in the middle of yet another monster rivalry: Daywalkers vs. Vampires. Tensions flare when Zed and Addison find themselves acting as camp counsellors between the two opposing supernatural factions. With the help of Eliza and Willa, they must convince sworn enemies Nova and Victor to try to unite their warring worlds before an even greater threat endangers them all.
According to Deadline, the Disney Original movie pulled in 9.3 million views globally within its first ten days on Disney+. The film also premiered on the Disney Channel in the United States, which will only have added to its overall viewership numbers.
Between the four “ZOMBIES” movies, they’ve pulled in over a quarter of a billion streaming hours to date, and it’s one of the most popular Disney Original Movie franchises available on Disney+.
The soundtrack to the film has also been a huge success, pulling in over 40 million audio streams across the world, with 20 million of those on Spotify, 9 million on Apple Music and 11 million from Amazon Music. The soundtrack also continues to be very popular on YouTube, with fans consuming more than 900,000 hours of “ZOMBIES” soundtrack-related videos. The film has also been extremely popular on social media, though no exact reach numbers have been revealed.
Ayo Davis, the president of Disney Branded Television, said in a statement regarding the success:
“With an electrifying story, a chart-topping soundtrack, and major buzz across streaming and social, Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires is hitting big with kids everywhere. Music has always been central to our Disney Channel Original Movies, and ZOMBIES 4 continues that tradition – joining last year’s ‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’ as one of summer’s must-watch events for kids. That excitement is spilling into the real world too, with the ‘Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide’ tour playing to packed houses as it travels across the U.S. this summer.”
Roger’s Take: This is without a doubt a massive success for Disney, and I can’t see the “ZOMBIES” franchise being put aside anytime soon, so hopefully, it won’t be too long until a fifth film is officially announced.
Unfortunately, Disney doesn’t release viewership details for all of its movies and shows, so it’s hard to do a direct comparison to other recent releases, especially as Disney tends to move the goalposts in terms of the viewership over different days. The only data provided by Disney was for the “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” series, which pulled in 3.2 million views on Disney+ within 12 days.
All four of the “ZOMBIES” movies, along with the spin-off animated series are available to stream on Disney+ around the world.
