Last week, Disney revealed it was making a pilot of a new sequel series of the Disney Channel series, “Wizards Of Waverly Place”, which will pick up after a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult, Justin Russo, has left his wizard powers behind, opting for a normal, human life with his wife and two sons. But he gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard in need of training shows up at his door… and Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World.

The series is going to star David Henrie, who will be reprising the role of Justin Russo, while Selena Gomez will be returning for a cameo in the pilot and will also be an executive producer on the show.  Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas will be the executive producers on the show and have previously brought back “That’s So Raven” with a sequel series called “Raven’s Home”.

Following the news being made public, David took to social media to share some photos of the creative team behind the show, plus some of the cast of the pilot, Alkaio Thiele, Janice Brown, and Mimi Gianopulos.

“Let’s make some [magic wand emoji],”

David also shared another photo with a photo of himself with his onscreen son, Alkaio Thiele,

“Like father like son? I don’t know if we could cast any closer to me back in the day ha ha.”

As with all pilots, it might not necessarily make it to a full series, but if it does, we should expect to see the series on the Disney Channel and Disney+.

And while we wait for the new series, you can catch the original, plus the two movies, on Disney+ now.
