This May, everyone’s favourite lovable Lasange loving cat, Garfield is returning to our screens with a brand new animated movie, “The Garfield Movie”.

The new movie features Chris Pratt as the voice of Garfield, who sets out on a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.

Will “The Garfield Movie” Be Released On Disney+?

While the movie is animated, unfortunately, “The Garfield Movie” has been created by Sony Pictures, so its path to Disney+ is a little more complicated.

Once the movie has completed its theatrical run over the summer and has been released on digital platforms for purchase and rent, it will be available on Netflix for eighteen months for its Pay One window.

The good news for Disney+ subscribers, is that Disney does have a Pay 2 deal for Sony’s movies from 2022 through to 2026, so we should expect to see “The Garfield Movie” arrive on Hulu and Disney+ in the United States during the summer of 2026!

Internationally, things are much simpler since Disney doesn’t license Sony Pictures for Disney+ unless its a Spider-Man related film or a show made by FX. Therefore, we won’t see “The Garfield Movie” released on Disney+ unless there is a major change in strategy, which is unlikely.
