This December, Sony Pictures is releasing a brand new film, “Kraven The Hunter”, which is an action-packed, standalone story of how one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless gangster father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.

“Kraven The Hunter” has been directed by J.C. Chandor and features a story by Richard Wenk. It has been produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and David Householter.

When Is “Kraven The Hunter” Released?

“Kraven The Hunter” is being released exclusively in cinemas on Friday 13th December 2024.  Following its theatrical release, it will then be released on digital platforms like Apple, Amazon, and Vudu for purchase/rent before being released on physical media formats like DVD and Blu-Ray.

When Will “Kraven The Hunter” Be On Disney+?

While “Kraven The Hunter” is based on a Marvel Comic book and features characters owned by Marvel, Sony Pictures is releasing the movie, so unlike other Marvel Studios films, it won’t automatically come to Disney+ following its theatrical and digital release.

Instead, in the United States, “Kraven The Hunter” will be heading to Netflix first as part of a multi-year Pay One deal for around eighteen months.    Disney does have a multi-year Pay Two licensing deal that covers Sony’s theatrical releases from 2022 to 2026 for Disney’s vast portfolio of platforms, including its streaming services Disney+ and Hulu, as well as linear entertainment networks including ABC, Disney Channels, Freeform, FX and National Geographic.

This means that “Kraven The Hunter” will likely arrive on Disney+ and Hulu around two years after the movie’s theatrical release, which will be around December 2026. However, no exact Disney+ release has been announced yet, and it isn’t likely for a couple of years.

Internationally, things are a little less complicated since while Disney has licensed some “Spider-Man” films, including the first “Venom” on Disney+, these are older titles that fall outside of their Pay One and Pay Two windows, so it might be years, if ever, until “Kraven The Hunter” is available on Disney+ internationally.
