When Is “Freakier Friday” Coming To Disney+
This Summer, Walt Disney Studios is releasing the next instalment in the classic “Freaky Friday” franchise, “Freakier Friday”, in cinemas around the world.
The new movie is a sequel to the beloved 2003 film, featuring a multigenerational twist, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, who will reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman.
The story picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice. “Freakier Friday” is directed by Nisha Ganatra and based on the book “Freaky Friday” by Mary Rodgers.
“Freakier Friday” also stars Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Rosalind Chao, Chad Michael Murray, and Mark Harmon, is produced by Kristin Burr, Andrew Gunn, and Jamie Lee Curtis, with Nathan Kelly, Ann Marie Sanderlin, and Lindsay Lohan serving as executive producers.
When Is “Freakier Friday” Released?
“Freakier Friday” is being released exclusively in cinemas on August 8th 2025.
When Will “Freakier Friday” Be On Disney+?
Currently, no official Disney+ release date has yet been announced.
Disney now prioritises theatrical releases and generally keeps movies in cinemas for at least three months, especially with big-budget blockbusters like “Snow White”, “Mufasa: The Lion King”, and “Inside Out 2”, which usually take over a hundred days to go from their initial theatrical release to a streaming release.
For that reason, I wouldn’t expect to see “Freakier Friday” arrive on Disney+ until sometime in November, just in time for Thanksgiving. It will likely be available on Disney+ around the same time as the film is released on physical media.
