It’s Friday and time to take a look at what’s new on Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland today, which includes two brand new exclusive films, “Hollywood Stargirl” and “Fire Island”, plus one of the biggest films of all time, “Titanic”.

Here’s the rundown:


“Fire Island”

The story centers around two best friends who set out to have a legendary week-long summer vacation with the help of cheap rosé and a cadre of eclectic friends.


Hollywood Stargirl

In this follow up to the Disney+ Original film, “Stargirl”, this film follows Stargirl’s (Grace VanderWaal) journey out of Mica, Arizona, and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibilities. When her mother Ana (Judy Greer) is hired as the costume designer on a movie, they relocate to L.A., where Stargirl quickly becomes involved with an eclectic assortment of characters. They include aspiring filmmaking brothers Evan (Elijah Richardson) and Terrell (Tyrel Jackson Williams); Mr. Mitchell (Judd Hirsch), one of Stargirl’s neighbors; and Roxanne Martel (Uma Thurman), a musician Stargirl admires and encounters on her journey.


Mack Wrestles

A look behind the scenes as Mack Beggs, a gifted athlete from Euless, Texas, struggles against the outside forces that stigmatise transgender athletes.


Titanic (1997)

Seventeen-year-old Rose hails from an aristocratic family and is set to be married. When she boards the Titanic, she meets Jack Dawson, an artist, and falls in love with him.


The Sixth Sense (1999)

Malcolm Crowe, a child psychologist, starts treating a young boy who acts as a medium of communication between the former and a slew of unhappy spirits.


Pride (2014)

Realising that they share common foes in Margaret Thatcher, the police and the conservative press, London-based gay and lesbian activists lend their support to striking miners in 1984 Wales.


Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

A teenager from the slums of Mumbai becomes a contestant on the show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati?’ When interrogated under suspicion of cheating, he revisits his past, revealing how he had all the answers.


A Cure for Wellness (2016)

Lockhart, an executive, is sent to a wellness spa in the Swiss Alps to retrieve his company’s CEO. At the centre, he encounters strange activities that make him investigate the illness of the people.


Sunchaser (1996)

Millionaire oncologist Dr. Michael Reynolds (Woody Harrelson) is living a life of luxury in Los Angeles when he is assigned to young cancer patient Brandon Monroe (Jon Seda), a violent former gang member with nothing but contempt for the doctor. Monroe, who is part Cherokee, gets hold of a gun, kidnaps Reynolds and forces him to go to an Arizona reservation, where he thinks a lake’s healing powers will cure him. Their journey is fraught with danger but leads to insights for both men.


A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1999)

Lysander and Hermia love each other but Hermia’s father arranges for her to be married to Demetrius. All hell breaks loose when the lovers flee to the forest and Demetrius follows them.


This Boy’s Life (1993)

To begin life afresh, a mother, along with her son, migrates to Seattle where she marries a mechanic. Soon, they realise that he is an abusive alcoholic and make a plan to escape.


Guess Who (2005)

Percy Jones, a proud African American man, gets the shock of his life when he learns that his daughter Theresa’s fiance is a Caucasian man. He initiates an investigation to find out more about him.


Texas Storm Squad

Documentary following an elite team of search and rescue workers from Texas A&M Task Force 1. When Tropical Storm Imelda brought record-breaking flash flooding to Southeast Texas in September 2019, the team battle to save lives and evacuate stranded residents from a community that had been devastated by Hurricane Harvey just two years earlier.
