With the release of the “Pinocchio” remake this upcoming week for Disney+ Day, we wanted to take the time to highlight one of the main stars, Tom Hanks, and all of the titles you can see him in currently on Disney+. Hanks will be starring as Geppetto, the infamous toy maker that wishes upon a star for Pinocchio.

A role that will always be synonymous with Tom Hanks is that of Woody the Cowboy in the “Toy Story” franchise. Many millennials grew up with Woody with the release of the original Toy Story in 1995 through the last installment of “Toy Story 4” in 2019. Who can forget the iconic line, “there’s a snake in my boot.” In addition to the feature films, there are also several shorts where Hanks has also lent his vocal talents to the character of Woody for a Halloween and a Hawaiian vacation adventure.

The next title transforms Hanks into the man himself, Walt Disney, in the movie “Saving Mr. Banks”. The movie centers around the author of Mary Poppins and how Disney worked to secure the rights to make Mary Poppins into a movie. Hanks manages to play a fairly convincing Disney, acting alongside Emma Thomason’s P.L. Travers, author of Mary Poppins.

Hanks can also be seen in the classic movie, “Turner and Hooch”, which was released in the 1980s, where he plays a detective that is partnered with a slobbery dog named Hooch. The two become a lovable pair as they learn to get along and work together. This movie is a funny, but also is a real tear-jerker.  There’s also the sequel series, which is also available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
