This Sunday is Mothers Day in most countries around the world and if you are in the mood to watch something on Disney+, there are plenty of movies and shows available that feature some incredible moms.  And if you can’t be with your mom due to the current situation, why not have a watch along party together, video call the family together and all stream the movie at the same time!

Brave

Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, “Brave” features Merida, an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty. Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right. Brave is often overlooked, but its easily one of my favourite Pixar movies, with the music especially standing out as a highlight on Mothers Day, because its one of the rare occasions where the mom needs saving by the daughter.

Pocahontas

Pocahontas, daughter of a Native American tribe chief, falls in love with an English soldier as colonists invade 17th century Virginia. It features some fantastic songs and lovable characters.

Dumbo

This amazing animated classic is all about the love of a mother and child, as all Dumbo wants to do is get back to his mamma.  With a heart breaking moment when the two are separated, this one is one for everyone to enjoy.  And if you haven’t seen the new live action version, that’s on Disney+ too.

The Incredibles

This animated great from Pixar delivers a simple superhero story that is perfect for all ages. Bob Parr has given up his superhero days to log in time as an insurance adjuster and raise his three children with his formerly heroic wife in suburbia. But when he receives a mysterious assignment, it’s time to get back into costume. The awesome sequel is also available in some regions as well, so you can get a double dose!  Especially as the second movie puts Mrs Incredible front and center!

The Odd Life Of Timothy Green

Cindy and Jim are devastated to learn that Cindy cannot conceive. However, the sudden appearance of an orphan boy, Timothy, in their lives, puts the couple out of their misery.  This is a real tearjerker and has a beautiful story.

The Sound Of Music

This classic 20th Century Fox Studios is all about a tomboyish woman at an Austrian abbey becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home. Featuring some iconic music and a wonderful setting, this is one classic to check out, especially as the movie sees Julie Andrews step into the role as mother for the children, following the death of their own.

Pete’s Dragon (2016)

In this remake of the classic 1977 movie, Pete Healy, an orphan, travels with Grace, a ranger, to find his friend Elliot, a green dragon with wings, after he disappears from the forest.   This is a heartwarming story of an orphan finding his new family.

Born In China

Disneynature’s “Born In China” follows the stories of three animal families, the film transports audiences to some of the most extreme environments on Earth to witness some of the most intimate moments ever captured in a nature film. A doting panda mother guides her growing baby as she begins to explore and seek independence. A two-year-old golden snub-nosed monkey who feels displaced by his new baby sister joins up with a group of free-spirited outcasts. And a mother snow leopard-an elusive animal rarely caught on camera-faces the very real drama of raising her two cubs in one of the harshest and most unforgiving environments on the planet. Featuring stunning, never-before-seen imagery, the film navigates China’s vast terrain-from the frigid mountains to the heart of the bamboo forest-on the wings of red-crowned cranes, seamlessly tying the extraordinary tales together.

Freaky Friday

There are three different versions of Freaky Friday available on Disney+, so which one you watch is down to you, but they all focus on one core element, that when their bodies are switched and they are forced to live each other’s lives, they both gain plenty of perspective on one another.

Another suggestion, is to just ask your mom what she would like to watch!  Give your time and watch it with her!

What are you going to watch this mothers day?
