With the rise of streaming services, there is more of a demand for live performances for viewing. This trend is not showing any signs of slowing down, so we wanted to highlight the various concerts and special events that are currently available on Disney+.

One of the first and most popular live performances is Hamilton – the musical – with the original Broadway cast including Lin Manuel Miranda, Jonathan Groff, and Daveed Diggs. The cast performs the entire show with terrific vantage points that provide an intimate, close-up look at all of the action that audience members might miss by attending in person, along with the ability to watch and rewatch the musical numbers to understand exactly what each character is saying.

With the announcement that Elton John will not be performing live in concert anymore, the next live concert available on Disney+ is Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium. This concert goes through all of the hits and is sure to delight any true music fan and those who were unable to attend a date on the tour. John was also responsible for some of the most iconic songs in the original animated classic The Lion King with “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and “The Circle of Life”. Both the original and the remake of the beloved movie are available on Disney+. 

Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl is another live performance we want to highlight that is available. The original film cast reunites in the special with a special appearance from music icon Lin Manuel Miranda. They sing all of the favorites from the movie, including “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, “The Family Madrigal”, and “Dos Orguitas”. Miranda has been in multiple projects currently on Disney+ with Hamilton, as mentioned above, in addition to Mary Poppins Returns, among others. 

The Wonderful World of Disney Presents The Little Mermaid Live! and Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration offer two live-action performances of treasured Disney animated classics. Both feature all-star casts to bring the magic of the films to the stage. The famous Hollywood stars include John Stamos, Auli’l Cravalho, H.E.R., Shania Twain, and Josh Groban. You can check out John Stamos in his Disney+ original show, Big Shots, and you can hear Auli’l Cravalho as the voice of Moana in the movie of the same name.

Additionally, there is BTS: Permission to Dance, a concert from hit band BTS, along with a live performance from Billie Eilish, Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles, both filmed in California.
